Water Drive for Phoenix Rescue Mission

During the week of April 26, Lead Out Loud and student council leadership students at Faith Mather Sossaman Elementary (FMSE) in the Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD) collected cases of water for the Phoenix Rescue Mission. The water drive was part of a C.A.R.E Challenge, Community/All-in/Raise School Spirit/ Emphasize Leadership.

Students waited outside of the school to collect cases of water from families during morning drop-off time. Parents also donated cases of water to FMSE’s front office. The mission will distribute generous donations of approximately 130 cases of water to area homeless during Arizona’s sweltering summer months.

In keeping with the district's values and goals, the event is a testament to the student’s desire to help others. Student leader and fourth-grader Alivia Robinson said, “I felt great helping others and the community. We were able to spread kindness, show respect, and bring awareness to others about people in need.”

QCUSD staff plans to work alongside civic-minded organizations to aid individuals in need and to make positive contributions to the local community and beyond.
